NASHVILLE, TN (WMC) - There is now a confirmed case of Zika virus in Tennessee.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention alerted Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) of a positive case of Zika virus in East Tennessee (TDH has not given a more specific location of the confirmed case).
The patient recently traveled to South America.
"We have been expecting an imported case of Zika virus disease, and we believe more infections are likely as people travel to and from areas where the disease is currently being transmitted," TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner said.
