MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Memphis child is in need of a life-saving operation, and you could help her raise the money she needs to get better.

Nicholas and Jesse Faris adopted 2-year-old Brooklyn from China. Brooklyn was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome, and doctors at a Chicago children's hospital recommended she get a liver transplant.

"It's hard, but it's also been a huge blessing," Brooklyn's mother, Jesse Faris said. "When we said yes to her, there was so much good that we said yes to, so we've just been so blessed to have her as part of our family."

Because the cost of organ transplants often exceeds $500,000, a group of Memphis volunteers are helping the family raise funds for Brooklyn's operation.

Together, they've donated a room full of items to host a huge one-day rummage sale on Saturday, February 13 at Service Over Self, 2505 Poplar Avenue. The event will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Both cash and credit cards will be accepted at the indoor sale, with 100 percent of all money collected going to help pay for Brooklyn's liver transplant.
