MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Memphis girl raised $10,000 in honor of her best friend.

Sobenna Egwuekwe is a ball kid in the Memphis Open. All of the ball kids raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Sobenna gathered the largest sum of funds.

The win is all the more special for Sobenna because her best friend Briana Massey is a St. Jude patient. According to Sobenna's parents, she visits her friend whenever she can.

In a Facebook post on Sobenna's page, her parents wrote, "Sobenna is tremendously grateful, and her parents are tremendously humbled by your kindness and generosity to Sobenna and to her dear friend Briana! Thank you for making a difference in the fight against cancer and for making little girls' dreams come true."

They added that almost 90 people from all over the world donated amounts ranging from $10 to $4,000.

As a reward for raising the most money, Sobenna will go to New York in March to ball kid for her favorite tennis player, Serena Williams. The Memphis Open will also give her a special shoutout on Saturday.
