MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Behind a cold front, it's going to be a frigid weekend with highs in the 30s and lower 40s. When you're shivering this weekend, just keep telling yourself that warmer weather isn't far away!
A high pressure system will build in mid-week and temperatures will soar above the average mark. Our long range weather models are indicating temperatures in the 60s starting on Wednesday and possibly continuing through the following week.
The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) has a 40-50 percent chance of temperatures being above average in our area February 17 to the 21. Our weather models are in agreement with this and we are expecting highs 5-10 degrees above average by mid-week.
Our weather is expected to be even warmer beginning next Friday with the CPC giving us a 50-60 percent chance of above average temperatures February 19 through the 25. Temperatures could be 15 degrees above our average temperature of 54 degrees by the end of next weekend and into the following week.
