EADS, TN (WMC) - Two parents are behind bars after two children were found neglected.
Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to a missing child call in the 12000 block of George R. James Road in Eads, Tennessee.
Deputies found a woman in a vehicle they believed to be under the influence of a narcotic. After a struggle, she was taken into custody. Deputies identified her as 28-year-old Heather Burrows.
When deputies checked the residence, they found a 3-year-old boy that was left in the home alone with the front door open.
After a three hour search, deputies found Burrows' 9-year-old son, who was also reported missing, at his grandmother's home in Collierville.
Detectives contacted the father of the children, Michael Burrows, who said the 3-year-old was put to bed before he and Heather got into an argument. Both got into a vehicle and left the residence.
After driving five miles, Michael exited the vehicle, keeping the keys and leaving his wife in the car.
Deputies said neither made an attempt to return to the home or contact anyone to look after the child.
The Department of Children's Services was notified and both grandmothers came to take custody of the 3-year-old.
Heather and Michael Burrows were both arrested and charged with child neglect/endangerment. Heather is also charged with aggravated assault, resisting official detention and disorderly conduct.
