Winter Weather Advisory in effect in Dyer County

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Dyer County in west Tennessee on Sunday through 6 p.m. This includes the city of Dyersburg.

As of 8:30 AM, a thin layer of ice is accumulating on all surfaces in Dyersburg and a quarter of an inch of sleet has been reported in Union City, TN.

There will be light sleet and snow in far northwest Tennessee, northeast Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel on Sunday. Some accumulation is expected for areas in northwest Tennessee and in the bootheel. Most areas will only see a trace of sleet.

Driving could be dangerous on elevated surfaces, such as overpasses and bridges, through 6 p.m. on Sunday,

The prime time for sleet will be between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. tomorrow, so please avoid travel during that time.

After 6 p.m., any winter precipitation will change over to rain and ice will melt in most areas.

I highly recommend downloading the WMC Action News 5 Weather App to track any sleet on the interactive radar tomorrow!
