MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The City of Memphis hired a firm to look for the next Memphis Police Department Director.
The city will pay the International Association of Chiefs of Police between $30,000 and $40,000 to find a new director.
The search comes after former Police Director Toney Armstrong resigned January 31. Michael Rallings is currently serving as interim police director.
The city expects to hire the police director within the next four to eight months.
When Mayor Jim Strickland announced his team for 2016, he raised the police director's salary from $126,000 to $150,000 per year. That number could change before a decision is made.
