After a cloudy, rainy day, fog began developing across the Mid-South by late afternoon into the evening hours.
In many areas, visibility had diminished to a quarter of a mile or less making driving tricky especially after sunset. That prompted the National Weather Service office in Memphis to issue a Dense Fog Advisory for the entire WMC Action news 5 coverage area until 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Be sure to allow for some extra time for the morning commute Tuesday as visibility could still be very low. It's also possible that parts of northeast Arkansas and west Tennessee could be dealing with some light rain further complicating the morning drive.
WMC Action News 5's Spencer Denton was in StormTracker 5 for several hours during the Tuesday morning commute. He did not find heavy fog in Shelby County and said visibility was about three miles.
However, he said that drivers should still take their time, as patchy fog could move into the area.
