MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man is behind bars, accused of trying to murder his wife.
According to the police report, a woman went to her sister's home in the 3000 block of Queensgate Drive to check on her on January 24. When she arrived, she noticed the side door was open and the dog was outside, which seemed unusual to her.
She called police, and when officers went into the home they found her sister on the living room floor with approximately 10 stab wounds in her face and chest.
The officers then heard the victim say, "husband." They asked her if her husband, 33-year-old Freddie Willingham, was responsible for her injuries and she nodded her head.
The officers found a bloody kitchen knife and a broken knife handle in the home.
Officers later arrested Freddie Willingham and charged him with attempted first-degree murder and domestic assault with bodily harm.
