MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man is behind bars, accused of shooting at another man who was driving his car.
According to the police report, just after midnight January 29, a man asked officers for help at the intersection of Lamar Avenue and Kimball Road. He said he had been shot at just a few minutes prior.
The victim's 2016 Hyundai Elantra had several bullet holes in its rear, and its back window was shattered. One bullet was lodged in the driver's seat headrest.
The victim told police that he met an acquaintance in the 2800 block of Filmore Avenue about 15 minutes earlier. That acquaintance immediately started shooting at him.
The victim identified the shooter as Willie Earl Edwards Jr. Edwards was previously convicted of aggravated robbery in April 2009.
Edwards is charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun, attempted first-degree murder, and using a firearm with intention to commit a felony.
He is in jail on a $100,000 bond.
