MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The General Choice Transfer process is now open to all students in Shelby County Schools.
According to SCS, the process allows parents to choose any school in the district with available space that best fits their child's needs.
The application for the process is available on the SCS website. Parents log in with their child's name, birth date, current grade, current school and either a social security number or district PIN.
Applications will be processed in two rounds. The priority application period runs from February 16 through March 25. After that time, the application will close while the districts processes all those students. Then, the application will reopen and the district will accept students for schools with available space.
General Choice Transfer requests are processed in the order they are received, within priority categories outlined in the District's admissions policy here.
This year's applications are for the 2016-17 school year. It is different from the Optional Schools application process.
