MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Something new is coming to Memphis in May: 901Fest.
The inaugural event is set for May 28 and will serve as the finale for Memphis in May, according to Choose901.com
Previously, Sunset Symphony served as the month long celebration's finale. 2015 marked the end of Sunset Symphony's 39 year run.
The Great American River Run has also been added to the Memphis in May lineup for the first time. The half marathon and 5K will also take place on May 28.
901Fest will celebrate all things local, including musicians, artists, vendors, and food. An airshow and fireworks will also take place over the mighty Mississippi, a nod to some of Memphian's favorite parts of Sunset Symphony.
Choose 901 is now looking for input on the festival. The group is also giving away five pairs of free tickets.
"The mission of our organization is to celebrate Memphis' culture and heritage," Memphis in May President and CEO James L. Holt said. "We plan on doing that in spectacular style this Memorial Day weekend by showcasing our musicians, artists, culinary arts, and unique Memphis products. 901Fest gives us an opportunity to turn the spotlight on Memphis and allow Memphians to enjoy our city's assets."
