Tigers avoid 3rd straight loss, thump UCF

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Tigers coach Josh Pastner's teams have never dropped three in a row.

That still holds true after Memphis' midweek meeting against UCF.

Dedric Lawson scored a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, and Trahson Burrell added 13 points and six assists to lead the Tigers past the Knights 73-56 Wednesday night.

Shaq Goodwin also had a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis (15-11, 6-7 American Athletic), which snapped a two-game losing streak skid.

The Tigers outscored the Knights 26-9 over the final 15:28 of the first half to take control of the game, and never trailed in the second half.

Avery Woodson had 12 points and Craig Randall scored 10 in the start.

Next up, Memphis travels to USF for a 10 a.m. matchup with the Bulls Saturday.
