Man charged with senseless dog shooting

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is behind bars after a dog owner said he went into his yard and shot his dog.

Memphis police said 38-year-old Christopher Finch went to a home in the 2600 block of Moss Valley Drive without permission on February 4. 

According to the police report, the dog owner watched Finch kill his pet from the doorway. 

The owner told police he saw what looked like a sawed off shotgun under Finch's jacket. The owner then said he saw the man put the gun into his dog's mouth and shoot the dog.

Finch is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated cruelty to animals.
