MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police are looking into reports of a car following a school bus and threatening to shoot a student on board.

A 12-year-old who was on the bus at the time said there was a red car following closely behind the school bus.

He said everyone sitting in the back of the bus quickly moved to the front.

"When we stopped, we hurried up and ran off the bus," the student said. "I ran straight home."

Police said the incident happened near the intersection of Shelby Street and Frank Avenue.

The student said most of the time he feels safe on the bus.

"I feel safe, sometimes, but not today," he said. "The dude was following us."

We are told there were multiple people in the car and the students on the bus attend Riverview Middle School.

The student said the bus driver made an announcement over the intercom.

"He came on the intercom and said the car was following us, it was a red vehicle," the student said.

He said the students were scared and didn't know what to do.

They said someone threatened to shoot a particular student on the bus. No shots were fired, and no students were injured.

However, police said the people who made the threats were not caught.
