MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - An officer was injured while chasing burglary suspects on Central Avenue near Peabody Avenue.

Police said a citizen said he saw a man with a flashlight inside a neighbor's home while the neighbors were not there. Two people ran from police when officers arrived at the home.

One person fought with officers when they tried to arrest him.

An officer from Crump Station was injured during the fight, as well as the person arrested.

Police are still searching for the other person involved in the burglary.

"I saw they've got one still on the run. But, at least they're doing something," neighbor Samuel Gray said.

Gray said other homes in the area have been hit and that makes him think an even more active neighborhood watch may be needed.

"Maybe it's time to take it up again," Gray said.

Both the officer and suspect were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
