MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The life of Jarmelle "Jo Jo" Jones was remembered with a candlelight vigil by his friends and family on the day that would have been his 28th birthday. But now, they celebrate at the place where he is buried.
"We're here to celebrate his life. It's been more than a year and we haven't heard anything about the situation or who did it."
Jones was killed in a home invasion around Thanksgiving two years ago. Masked men broke into a Cordova home and killed the 26-year-old entrepreneur and injured his girlfriend.
Police have no suspects.
"It's frustrating, especially on today. That is the most frustrating part," his father, James Jones, said. "Thanksgiving time. This year is pretty hard on me."
JoJo Jones' family wants closure.
Jones, along with his many other interests, sold bundles of hair. That is something that may not have seemed significant at the time of his murder. But now, just this year, three people have been murdered in hair thefts, according to investigators.
E.J. Tate and his girlfriend, Edwina Thomas, who was pregnant, were shot as they sat in his car at an apartment complex and robbed of hair they sold.
Willie Abston, an employee at a business called Bundles of Hair, was shot and killed at the business. Police said the suspects took off with a box of hair.
There have also been several hair heists from other businesses.
"We just want closure," James Jones said. "To take a young person's life, you can't get it back."
Police do not have any suspects in Jones' death.
