5 Great Things: Memphis in May, grocery shoppers surprised

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - It's been another great week in the Mid-South. Here are five reasons why.

The Tipton County Sheriff's Office helped a 14-year-old fighting cancer cross an item off her bucket list. Cassy was surprised with a ride in a red Ferrari.

'901Fest' at Memphis in May

Memphis in May is constantly growing. A new event, 901Fest, will be the finale of the month long celebration on May 28.

Several Memphis-area credit unions went above and beyond to surprise shoppers at Kroger. The group paid for $2,000 worth of groceries for shoppers at random.

Uptown Funk party at Hard Rock Café

The Hard Rock Cafe hosted a party for Mid-South Grammy Winners, including Boo Mitchell and Kameron Whalum. Both Mitchell and Whalum won Grammys for their work on "Uptown Funk."

Students at Dogwood Elementary School in Germantown are jumping for a good cause. Their work is dedicated to helping one of their teachers who relies on a defibrillator after contracting a virus when she was five. In 17 years, Dogwood Elementary students have raised more than $325,000 for the American Heart Association.
