Grizzlies hope Stephenson plays like Pacers days

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Grizzlies hope their trade deadline acquisitions can pay off, and perhaps the biggest factor in that happening is guard Lance Stephenson, who was acquired in a trade that sent Jeff Green to the Clippers.

In his Grizzlies debut, Stephenson looked reminiscent of the player that led the Indiana Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals two years ago.

Stephenson scored 16 points on 60 percent shooting.

Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger was impressed for a player with only one practice with his new team.

"He's going to learn his teammates, his teammates will learn him, and the staff as well," Joerger said. "I was encouraged, and also the spirit--the spirit's there. He's trying to please. He's trying to help his teammates. Everybody's all in."

Stephenson will take the floor again Wednesday when they host Kobe Bryant's Lakers in the Black Mamba's last visit to FedExForum.
