MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A person was rushed to the hospital following a shooting at Motel 61.

The shooting happened in the 3200 block of South Third Street between Brooks Road and Mitchell Road just after midnight Tuesday.

According to police, a woman said she got into a grey four-door Pontiac at the BP gas station up the street. She didn't know the male driver, but she knew a woman who was in the passenger seat. The three drove to Motel 61.

The woman said she then got out of the car, went upstairs and came back down to talk to the driver. When she walked over to the passenger side of the car, she said the man pointed a gun at her and shot her.

The driver and passenger then drove off.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Anyone with information that could help police make an arrest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
