State of emergency issued for Mississippi

JACKSON, MS (WMC) -

Governor Phil Bryant has issued a state of emergency for Mississippi.

Severe weather is expected to hit the state today with potential for tornadoes and damaging winds, hail and heavy rain.

"All our citizens need to be prepared for this severe weather event," Bryant said. “Everyone should know how to receive weather alerts and have an action plan to take shelter if severe weather strikes.”
