Hundreds packed a Grenada church Tuesday to pay respects to Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agent James Lee Tartt.
Tartt was killed during a standoff with a suspect in Tishomingo County.
"A selfless servant giving to others and you will never even know his name and what he does," said a fellow agent.
Three MHP SWAT members were also injured, but agents say a 10-year-old is alive because of Tartt.
"There is a little 10-year -old girl who is alive tonight because of his actions," said Trooper Trea Staples.
The wounded officers gave touching remarks from their hospital beds.
"Lee's a hero; he's my hero,” said Trooper Bubba Holifield.
In 2011 Tartt was awarded the Agent of the year award, an award his fellow officers say spoke to his character as a person.
