Hundreds pay respect to fallen Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics officer

GRENADA, MS (WMC) - Hundreds packed a Grenada church Tuesday to pay respects to Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agent James Lee Tartt.

"A selfless servant giving to others and you will never even know his name and what he does," said a fellow agent.

Three MHP SWAT members were also injured, but agents say a 10-year-old is alive because of Tartt.

"There is a little 10-year -old girl who is alive tonight because of his actions," said Trooper Trea Staples.

The wounded officers gave touching remarks from their hospital beds.

"Lee's a hero; he's my hero," said Trooper Bubba Holifield.

In 2011 Tartt was awarded the Agent of the year award, an award his fellow officers say spoke to his character as a person.
