MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A group of Memphians are planning a protest over a proposed change in city council.
At a committee meeting March 15, city council members will discuss whether they should put restrictions on or eliminate altogether the two minutes each citizen is allowed at the end of every city council meeting to address members.
Protesters who do not agree with the change feel its a violation of free speech. They're calling their demonstration "Free to First."
They plan to march into City Hall with tape over their mouths. Organizers will also set up a "free speech wall" for people to write on.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at City Hall on Tuesday, March 1.
