A Shelby County jury convicted a man of stealing a trailer loaded with lawn-care equipment in Shelby County.

According to Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich, 54-year-old William Sappington of Hickory Flat, Mississippi, was arrested in February 2013 in front of a Parkway Village home. He and another man were in the process of unhitching the trailer from the owner's pickup truck and connecting it to their pickup.

The other man died before the trial from causes unrelated to the crime.

Sappington has 10 prior felony convictions.

Sappington could face 10 to 15 years in prison for the most recent conviction. He is expected to be sentenced March 24.
