MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Your sweet tooth needs to crave no longer for Girl Scout cookies. The sweet treats have made their return to the Mid-South, and they'll be available at booths in hundreds of locations around the Mid-South.
The famous cookies will be available at most area Kroger grocery store locations, most Wal-Mart Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets, all Mid-South H & R Block locations, Hollywood Feed stores, Petco stores, Huey's Restaurants, and many other locations. For the first time this year, restaurants such as Central Barbecue on Summer Avenue and Rock 'N Dough Pizza on Poplar Avenue have joined the list of cookie booth locations.
The cookie sale is one of the largest fundraisers for the organization. The money is directly spent on troop activities, camping, travel and other programs across the council.
"Cookie sales are an important source of funding for Girl Scout troops and activities, but they do not cover all the costs of providing quality leadership experiences to thousands of girls in the Mid-South area," CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of the South Melanie Schild said.
The great thing about this year's sale in the Mid-South is you won't have to pay more for the cookies this year. Some Girl Scout councils in other regions have raised their prices this year, but Girl Scouts Heart of the South will keep prices the same for cookies as last year--$4 per box for traditional favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Savannah Smiles and Rah-Rah Raisins; and $5 per box for the new gluten-free Toffee-Tastic cookies.
Girl Scouts have even gone high-tech, using new technology to sell more cookies. For example, Mid-South cookie fans can now find nearby cookie sale locations online by using the Little Brownie Cookie Locator. Click here for the locator.
