MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A woman faces assault charges after investigators said she poured hot coffee on a Memphis sanitation worker.
Shauna Bardo, 34, lives on Foy Circle between Summer Avenue and Sam Cooper Boulevard.
Investigators said she got mad at a sanitation worker and poured burning coffee on his neck and back.
"I can't imagine why someone would do that, anything like that," Cheryl Gaines, neighbor, said.
Gaines lives across the street from Bardo. She did not see what happened, but she did hand the worker an ice pack to treat his burns after it happened.
The worker's name is Anthony Crawford. He said Bardo got mad at him when he told her he couldn't haul off a mattress and box spring from her curb.
He said the two items were too heavy and wet from the rain.
Bardo never answered knocks on her door Friday. Although there were multiple cars parked in the driveway.
"I can't even imagine why anyone would do that to somebody," Gaines said. "I wasn't over there, so I don't really know what he said to her or what she said to him."
Ultimately, it ended with Crawford getting minor burns on his neck and back. He told police he wants to press charges against Bardo. She's now facing an assault charge.
