MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - "First-Team All Defense" has another moniker he can add to his collection: "the best ever."
Kobe Bryant played his final game in Memphis Wednesday, marking the end of one era.
While Grizzlies fans will definitely miss watching the Black Mamba play, they may not miss Kobe's devastating performances against the Grizz.
However, it may not have been all smooth sailing for Kobe when he played Memphis.
The Grizzlies and Lakers squared off again Friday, this time in Los Angeles, and Bryant left a parting gift for Tony Allen with a special message.
Bryant left Allen a pair of shoes--one signed with Bryant's autograph and a big "24," and the other with the words "To Tony, the best defender I ever faced!"
Allen shared a picture of the shoes on Twitter:
Allen has been named to the NBA's All-Defensive First Team three times in his career and made the second team once, but those accomplishments may somehow be even less impressive than being called the best ever by one of the best scorers in NBA history.
