MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man is behind bars, accused of stealing communion wine from a Memphis church.
According to the police report, officers went to St. Patrick's Church on South Fourth Street and found the front doors unlocked. Two cases of Franzia red wine were missing from the church's closet.
A few streets away, the officers found James Hancock carrying a case of Franzia wine. He also had a digital hearing device in his front pocket.
A representative from the church said the wine Hancock had was the same kind that was missing from the church, and the listening device also belonged to the church.
Hancock told police he took the wine and was charged with burglary.
