MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A low pressure system moving out of the Central Plains will move into the Mid-South on Thursday, bringing more rain and making for a soggy morning commute for the second time this week.
Fortunately, severe weather is not expected with this system, but there could be some thunder and lightning along with heavy downpours. Rain will move in the area in the wee morning hours of Thursday and continue through the morning drive.
A few showers may linger into the lunch hour, but by late afternoon, drier air will filter in behind the system and this will be the set up to a great end of the week and weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday will reach the mid to upper sixties along with plenty of sunshine. In the meantime, allow some extra time for your drive to work Thursday morning and make sure the kids have rain gear on the way to school.
I also encourage you to download the WMC Action News 5 Storm Tracker app to your smart phone or iPad. It's a FREE download that will give you access to interactive radar, hour by hour forecast, and voice alerts for lightning or severe storms. The app will certainly come in handy Thursday morning as well as next week when another storm system moves into the area. More on that in my next blog post.
