MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Shelby County Schools is hosting a series of meetings to help guide parents through the district's rezoning plans for next year.
Four elementary schools--Macon Hall, Chimneyrock, Riverwood and Kate Bond will be rezoned. That means the schools will redraw their attendance lines to determine which students go to which school based on where they live. Some students may have to go to a different school for the 2016-2017 year.
Each year, SCS says it reviews all schools to make sure it's able to meet the needs of students by adjusting attendance zones. They said this process alleviates overcrowding and creates neighborhood-friendly schools.
Macon Hall and Riverwood held their meetings Tuesday. Chimneyrock and Kate Bond will hold their meetings Thursday night at 6 p.m. Families will have their chance to address the district.
SCS said all affected families will receive letters with further information.
