MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A second suspect has been arrested in connection to the death of a man and a pregnant woman in a Whitehaven apartment complex.

Police arrested Juvonta Carpenter, 23, on Friday in connection to the murder of Joe Fifer, 22, and Tamara Davis, 26, in January 2016.

Police arrived to the 4700 block of Haven Court in the Tulane apartments where they found Fifer and Davis with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Davis was pregnant.

In February 2016, police arrested Gerald Shields in connection to the murder. Police said Shields gave a written statement saying he, Carpenter and another man planned to rob Fifer.

Shields told police that after he knocked on the door and announced himself, Carpenter forced his way inside and shot Fifer.

A witness also identified Carpenter as the person who shot Fifer, according to the affidavit.

Carpenter was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery.
