MPD: Ankle tracker used to catch runaway suspect following critical crash

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Memphis man involved in a crash injuring a 14-month-old ran from police, but was caught using his ankle tracker.

Police came to the scene of an accident involving 19-year-old Pierre Taylor and a 14-month-old who was critically injured.

The accident happened in the 4300 block of Stage Road.

Police saw that Taylor had a suspended license and no proof of insurance. He was then placed in the back of a squad car to be taken into custody.

According to the affidavit, Taylor told police it was hot in the car. Police said the windows were lowered.

Investigators said Taylor reached his hand through the window, opened the door and left the scene.

Officers said Taylor had on an ankle tracker, which they used to track him down after contacting his probation office.

Taylor was arrested in the 4500 block of Andrew Crossing.

Taylor is charged with financial responsibility, driving while license suspended/revoked/canceled, no driver’s license and violation of child restraint laws.
