MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - For the first time ever, Pastor Kenneth Whalum, Jr.'s sons Kenneth III, Kortland and Kameron all performed together on one stage at Olivet Baptist Church.
The three brothers share Grammys, tours and widely successful songs among them.
The New Olivet Baptist Church celebrates men's month every March.
This year's theme, "Father I'm coming home," fits the Whalums.
"It's a musical family reunion," Kenneth III said.
"It's the first time we're doing something together on stage other than the house," Kortland said.
The three Whalum brothers have spent time working with artists like Jay-Z and Bruno Mars.
The Whalums realize they are an example of what young Memphis men can look up to.
"Kids and other young men from Memphis can say they're literally right where we're from," Kameron said.
Kameron, a former Overton High student, said he found his way in life through music.
"It's possible to just make it and do something positive and come back and show other people that there are different ways to make it," Kameron said.
Parents at the church agree.
"Just going out there, having a dream starting, from nothing and building their way up," Deogratias Oigboke said. "I have that same dream for my boys."
