MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Zoo welcomed two new members Tuesday morning.

Fishing cats Bob Parker and Rodrick were born in December 2015 to parents Jonas and Wasabi. They have been growing up off-exhibit. Both are males.

Cat Country Curator Farshid Mehrdadfar said there are only 60 fishing cats in all North American zoos, making the birth significant.

Fishing cats break the stereotype--these felines love to be in water. They actually fish for their dinner and use their tails as rudders to guide them through the water.

Fishing cats are listed as an endangered species on International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.
