Tom Brokaw to deliver Ole Miss commencement

OXFORD, MS (WMC) - Tom Brokaw will return to Oxford, Mississippi, to deliver the 163rd Ole Miss commencement.

Brokaw is best known as the longtime anchor of NBC's Nightly News. He is the only person to host all three major NBC News programs: "Today," "Nightly News" and "Meet the Press."

Brokaw also served as a guest lecturer for the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media in 2010.

In 2014, Brokaw sat down with WMC Action News 5's Joe Birch ahead of accepting the National Civil Rights Museum's Freedom Award.

"Tom Brokaw is one of the most astute observers of our culture and its evolution over the past half-century," Chancellor Jeff Vitter said. "He has enjoyed a front-row seat at some of the most significant events of our time, and his discernments on American politics and life are remarkable. We look forward to his insights and sage advice."

Brokaw will speak to graduating students and their families at 9 a.m. on May 14 in the Grove.
