Suspect in custody after barricade situation

SHELBY COUNTY, TN (WMC) -

Shelby County deputies have a man in custody following a barricade situation.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were at the scene near Chantilly Drive and Corkwood Drive where a wanted man barricaded his self into a home and refused to come out.

SCSO said the SWAT team was sent to help.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Marcus Simmons. was taken without incident.

Simmons was wanted in Shelby County for unlawful possession of a weapon, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and cocaine. Simmons was also wanted by federal agents on gun and drug charges.

The barricade lasted 90 minutes.
