COVINGTON, TN (WMC) -

Covington Police Department made 113 drug- and gang-related arrests in just a few weeks.

Covington Chief of Police Buddy Lewis said the arrests yielded 184 criminal charges.

"We have made a major statement as it pertains to drugs and gang activity in our city. Over the past several weeks, we have had our officers working overtime to target our violent crimes involving gang and drug activity," Chief Lewis said.

Back in February, CPD arrested 144 people.

"These types of operations will continue as long as we have people who continue to violate the law," Lewis said. "I am very proud of the work our officers have done and are continuing to do."

Part of the arrests include four notorious Covington gang members: Willie Lee Somerville, Ramell Jackson, Jessie James Somverville, and Lejarvius Taylor.

Lewis said anyone who has information about illegal drug or gang activity in Covington should call 901-475-1261.
