MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man was arrested after police said he posted a video to his Facebook page.
The man, whose Facebook name was listed as "CASH WHITE," posted the video of a man smoking what appeared to be marijuana in his car, while a small child sat in a car seat in the back. Police also said the man and the other two passengers were "throwing up obvious gang signs."
WMC Action News 5 shared the video with police, who then investigated and identified one of the passengers as Marquavious Richmond.
Richmond, the father of the child, has been arrested for a second time.
People in Memphis are outraged over the video.
"I don't have any sympathy for that person," one Memphian said. "It's one thing when a third party's smoke affects somebody, but to have a child in a car with marijuana--that needs to be prosecuted to the highest degree."
"It's unacceptable to do that to a baby. He doesn't deserve to have a kid."
Richmond was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment.
Richmond's family refused to comment on his arrest. Residents said this arrest should set an example to anyone else who feels it is OK to smoke near a child.
"The child doesn't have a chance. You don't know how it affects a child's brain. Their development; all of that. I just think it's totally wrong," one resident said.
Police said the child is now in the custody of the Department of Children's Services.
