MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Road work is getting ready to begin along I-40 and it will take nearly eight months to complete.
Tennessee Department of Transportation crews are beginning a $16.2 million dollar paving project on I-40 from Sycamore View to Davies Plantation crossing east of Memphis.
Construction signs are going up along the project to make drivers aware.
The work will occur Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Crews will be working in both east and westbound lanes. Two lanes will remain open until the project is complete.
Work on the ramps will occur during the weekends, Friday 8:00 p.m. through Monday 5:00 a.m.
No lane closures will be allowed during the weekend or major events, like the Beale Street Music Festival or Memphis in May.
The project is expected to be completed by October 31, 2016.
