U of M president addresses state of men's basketball program

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

University of Memphis president issued a statement today regarding the state of the men's basketball program.

The statement reads:

With the assistance of our athletic director and the athletic advisory group which includes alumni and community leaders, we are in the process of completing a comprehensive evaluation of the Uof M men's basketball program. Given the complexity of issues and importance to the University and Memphis, we appreciate the patience of the fans as we complete this review.

We understand and value the passion shown, and our place in the history of college basketball, as we move through these conversations in a swift manner. The efforts demonstrated by our student-athletes, the support of our fans and the talents shared by our university staff are greatly appreciated as we come to the end of this season and look forward to our future.

Monday, Tigers Head Coach Josh Pastner held a press conference to signal the end of the season. During the conference, he said he is planning on being the Tigers' coach moving forward.
