HOUSTON, TX (WMC) - The Grizzlies were yet again shorthanded Monday, and this time it showed.
The Rockets absolutely decimated the Grizzlies in Houston, 130-81.
Memphis, without Vince Carter and Lance Stephenson, in addition to the pile of previous injuries, went down big in the first quarter and never recovered.
Jarell Martin led Memphis in scoring with 17 and was helped by a double-double from newly-acquired Alex Stephenson, who had 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Houston was incredibly balanced, with nine players scoring in double digits. For reference, that's as many players as the Grizzlies had suited up for the game.
Zach Randolph and Chris Andersen sat again for Memphis, who has already lost Marc Gasol and Mario Chalmers for the season and are without Mike Conley and Brandan Wright for an extended period of time.
Memphis will try again next time when they come back to the Bluff City to take on the Timberwolves on Wednesday.
