MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police are searching for a man accused of pepper spraying a 91-year-old woman's face and robbing her.
The robbery happened in the 1700 block of Mignon Avenue on March 8, between Evergreen Street and McLean Boulevard.
Police said the man sprayed the woman in the face with pepper spray before stealing her purse and car keys. Officers also said her credit card was recently used in the 2900 block of Austin Peay Highway.
Police released surveillance pictures of the man they say attacked the woman.
"It didn't really scare me. It just made me wonder why in the world he would do that," victim Geneva Angle said.
Angle continues to drive and walk as she's done in the past, despite being attacked a week ago.
She said she'd seen the man who robbed her plenty of times before. Police said he's known to panhandle in the neighborhood where the robbery happened.
"I don't know why he would pick me," Angle said. "I'm not a rich woman."
If you have seen the man, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
