MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

I am always amazed by the creativity and tenacity of a lot of our educators in the Mid-South.

Here's a terrific example: librarian Deana Sain from Bolivar Middle School. Sain recently wrote and won a $5,000 grant which provided each student at her school a free hardback book.

So the school held a celebration to hand out the books.

There's no question it's tough to work in education these days and it seems there are never enough dollars to go around, but many of our teachers, principals, and librarians are going that extra mile to make sure our kids get the extras they deserve.

Do you know of an educator who is going the extra mile? If so, let me hear from you! Email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com or post to my Facebook page.

Thank an educator this week--a teacher, a principal, a librarian. They are doing so much to make sure our children live in A Better Mid-South.
