MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey will not seek re-election.
Ramsey (R-Blountville) announced Wednesday morning that he would not seek another four-year term to the Tennessee Senate.
"For the last 10 years, this body has granted me the privilege of serving as Lt. Governor and Speaker of the Senate. It has been a true honor to serve my state in this way," Ramsey said.
Ramsey was the first Tennessee GOP Senate Speaker in 140 years. In 2009, he became the longest serving speaker in the state's history.
