STOCKTON, CA (WMC) - The Memphis Tigers will be without one of their assistant coaches next year.
Damon Stoudemire has been announced as the new head coach at the University of Pacific.
Stoudemire has spent a lot of time in the Bluff City: he spent three years with the Grizzlies during his playing career, from 2005-08. In his three seasons, he played in 30 games and was never as effective as he was in his earlier years with Toronto and Portland.
After his career ended, he jumped right into coaching, spending two years on the Grizzlies staff before moving across town to coach the Tigers. He then left Memphis again, this time to join Arizona, his alma mater as a head coach, but left two years later to coach the Tigers again.
After one season this time, he's taking his first head coaching gig.
The Tigers will now be tasked to find a new assistant coach.
