GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) - Germantown police are looking for a man who flashed a woman while she walked in a popular park just off Wolf River Boulevard.

According to police, the man followed the woman and then flashed her. However, some people say it is not the first time something like this has happened.

"I probably will start carrying some mace," said LeAnn Tilson.

What reportedly took place on Tuesday at the park has some taking precautions of their own.

"I have mace, pepper spray, pocket knife," said Tracey McKinney, who enjoys running.

According to the police report, a woman was walking along the Greenway when she said she noticed a man fishing. It wasn't long until she said the man was following her.

When she turned around, she said the man got closer and she noticed the man was flashing his private parts.

"I have a perception of this area being pretty safe, because it's pretty visible," said Tilson.

The victim's family said this is not the first time they have heard of this happening and they have seen signs warning of a flasher at a nearby apartment complex. Now, they are asking for everyone to be aware of their surroundings.

"It's kind of not best to come by yourself. It's best to come with a buddy," said McKinney.

Police described the white man as being around 5'7'' with black hair, brown eyes, unshaven facial hair and wearing khaki shorts and a colored t-shirt.

If you know anything about this man, you are asked to call the Germantown Police Department.
