MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A horrendous first quarter appeared to sink the Grizzlies early. While they recovered, it wasn't enough to bring in the W.
The Grizzlies lost to the Timberwolves (24-46) in Memphis, 114-108.
The Grizzlies' makeshift roster, almost unrecognizable due to injuries, fared well after a disastrous first quarter that saw the Timberwolves score 42 points.
On the plus side, Lance Stephenson continued his strong run as a Grizzly, looking every bit the player he was on the Pacers' Eastern Conference Championship teams. Stephenson scored a team-high 24 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists, which both also led the team.
JaMychal Green (18 points) and Matt Barnes (14 points) also chipped in with double-doubles, each with 10 rebounds.
The Timberwolves, meanwhile, boasted an incredibly balanced lineup, with each starter scoring at least 15 points and Zach LaVine exploding for 28.
The Grizzlies have now lost three in a row and five of their last seven as they continue to wait for their injured stars to save the ever-changing roster.
Memphis will take the floor again Thursday night in Milwaukee as they face off with the red-hot Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.
