MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis Police Department said two people were shot and injured in Hickory Hill.

The shooting happened in the 3100 block of Ray Charles Drive.

Police said the victim told them two African-American men walked up to his vehicle as he was getting out. One of the men pulled out a gun and asked “where the money at.”

The victim told police he always gets out of his car with his gun and when he saw the suspect’s gun, he pulled out his own gun.

Investigators said the victim fired two shots at the suspect and the suspect fired back. The suspects ran away and the victim walked to his apartment where his girlfriend called police.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.

Officers said while they were talking to the victim, they were told by neighbors that there was a man lying in the grass with a gunshot wound a few yards away from the original incident.

Police said there was a gun about 10 inches away from the man, who they believe is the suspect. He was taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The second suspect was not found.

This is an ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
