MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A FREEZE WATCH is in effect until Sunday at 9 AM for several counties in west Tennessee and eastern Arkansas, including Dyer, Crockett, Lauderdale and Madison counties in Tennessee and Mississippi County in Arkansas. These areas will have the best chance for developing frost overnight.
It's the last weekend of Winter and mother nature is making sure that we know it. A cold front moved through Friday night and much cooler air is now settling into the Mid-South.
With a northerly wind flow and clear skies on Saturday and Sunday night, temperatures will plummet to the mid to upper 30s. Patchy frost could develop after midnight, especially in areas outside of the Memphis metro.
The main time frame will be midnight to 8 a.m. in rural areas. We recommend covering your gardens and crops to protect them from frost. In addition, please bring in your potted plants.
With temperatures in the 30s, you will also want to bring in your pets or provide a warm place for outdoor animals to sleep.
If you see any frost on the ground this weekend, please take a picture and tweet them to me @WX_BrittneyB!
